Komiza is the small town and port on the western coast of the island of Vis, in the deep bay of Komiza, at the foot of the hill Hum. It is connected to the mainland by daily ferry lines Split-Vis, and from the ferry port Vis you have 22 km on the island's main road to Komiza. The inhabitants work in fishing, agriculture, and tourism. It presents a typical mediterranean village characterized by the small stone lanes and the stone houses pocketed next to the port.

To those looking for cultural events, we recommend the Komiza Summer Festival when songs by traditional men's choirs can be heard throughout Komiza evoking from the traditional taverns. Also you you can feel the odour of the past in the 15th century fortress in the harbor or in St. Nicola’s monastery from the 13th century, also known as Muster. There are also a 13th century Romanesque church and a 16th century Baroque shrine in the place, besides many Secession edifices. If you want to move around a bit do not fail to visit the city of Vis and the island of Bisevo famous for its natural phenomena the Blue Cave.
